HISTORY

The García de Oteyza Ophthalmology Clinic’s path originates in Lérida in the 1950s when, our father and grandfather Juan García de Oteyza Romero, opened a surgery in this city coming from Madrid where he had specialised in Ophthalmology at Hospital de San Carlos. In 1973, his son Juan García de Oteyza Fernández-Cid moves to Barcelona where, after specialising at the Hospital Clínic, in which he worked for 17 years combining medical attention with teaching as a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, decides to establish his own private surgery at first in Rambla de Cataluña, later on in Paseo de la Bonanova as Chief of the Ophthalmology Unit at Institut Dexeus and finally, for the latest 20 years, in its current location in 31-33 Dr. Carulla Street. Along this time, in which more than 80,000 people have been seen, our clinic has stood out for its professional demand by updating and renewing its facilities and systems as well as investigating and taking part in national and international meetings in order to ensure our patients the best possible attention. Thanks to the recent joining of Gonzalo Gracía de Oteyza Delbès (the third generation) our clinic is starting a new professional and personal updating stage by incorporating new professionals and the leading technology in order to cover all branches of this speciality.
